As the tide comes in the portrait and silhouettes will be washed away and there will be a moment of remembrance.
This year (20118), on the 11th November people will be gathering at beaches across the UK to mark the centenary of Armistice Day with a project called Pages of the Sea created by Oscar winning film director Danny Boyle.
We are delighted to have been asked to produce the St Ives event at Porthmeor Beach and will be creating a portrait of Captain Edward Hain. Our activities start at noon, following the St Ives town parade which starts at 10.30am from The Guildhall, with a finish time of around 4pm.
Our activities include a local community choir, collection of family memories of WWI, pebble commemorations for fallen soldiers or loved ones and stencils.
We hope you’ll be able to make it … that’s Sunday 11th November, from noon. If you would like to, please bring a small posy of fresh flowers with no packaging (paper, plastic bands, plastic wrapping etc) to include.
