David has been a WildWorker since 2007 – joining the board from its inception. He became chair in 2011 and has played a central role in ensuring the smooth running of the company, as well as helping to drive the development of the company’s business and producing strategies. David stepped down from his role as chair in 2015 but remains a valuable member of the board.
David is an experienced producer, cultural leader and strategic thinker with a demonstrable track record in supporting artists, delivering significant arts projects and influencing policy. David is currently working independently with a broad range of companies in the performing arts, for the British Council, as a constant, producer and writer.
With considerable experience as a producer, programmer and arts leader he has played a central role in some of the most talked-about performance projects of the last decade including Punchdrunk’s mould-breaking The Masque of the Red Death, Royal de Luxe’s The Sultan’s Elephant, BAC’s One-on-One Theatre Festival and WildWorks’ BABEL. From 2007 until 2012 he was Joint Artistic Director and Chief Executive of Battersea Arts Centre, aground-breaking theatre in South London. Prior to that he was Senior Theatre Officer at the national office of Arts Council England.
